Josh and I hop on the trolley for a day of walking and photography in downtown San Diego. The intention was sunset photography at a station, night photography at another, but we got really hungry, plus it was too cloudy for a sunset anyways.

PSRM's ALCo S2 on it's journey home (02/09/2008)

Josh, Jose and I met up with Dave Tomeraasen, Alex Fiori and Dave Digiorgio this morning to watch as they retrieved the ALCo S2 which finally made its move to Campo from the North rather than from the South and through Mexico. See some pictures as we do a little foaming / railfanning.

Josh and I went to Mccain Valley to check out what the campground(s) are like. At about 2 miles in was Lark Canyon Campground -- Off Highway Vehicles were allowed there, so it looked kind of noisy. Then at 10 miles in, there was Cottonwood Campground! Nobody was camped there except one person. Looks a little too crowded for our likings, but we will consider it.

Hike to Goat Canyon Trestle from Jacumba (03/31/2007)

Josh, Lee and I went to the Goat Canyon Trestle from the South. Very interesting route. We first encountered a "train graveyard" then some small trestles, and 2 very LONG tunnels. The hike was about 15.58 miles, 7.79 each way. GPS decided to go a little haywire on me -- must be all those tunnels we passed through.
